Get the Most of Your Membership in the New Year

By Kimberly Tate, Content Creator, American Gem Society

The year is almost over, which means we are all thinking about the future. If you create New Year’s resolutions for your business, then we have a few suggestions that we think can help you. We sprinkled in a few personal suggestions too, for a little added inspiration!

2022 Visions
1

Ask us to help promote you! An easy way to show off your beautiful jewelry or get the word out about an in-store event is to let us amplify your message. Send us your photos for our social media or our Trending Now page, or schedule an AGS Instagram Takeover! We also have a way to help the AGS community get to know you better—ask to be featured in one of our various member spotlights in Spectra or Spectra Update. To learn more, contact [email protected].

2
Share stories about you or your business with the AGS community. Our community enjoys hearing special and interesting things about fellow members! Have any cool stories you’d like to share? Join our members-only Facebook group and tell us all about it. You can also follow us on our community Instagram page (@agscommunity).
3

Stay in the know with AGS PRO. Expand your knowledge by reading articles each month in our online educational portal, AGS PRO, or share your expertise by writing an article for Spectra or Spectra Update. The AGS community wants to hear from other members on best practices in business, learn more about gemstones, marketing and sales techniques, and any topic that helps them improve as professionals.

4

Stretch once a day (at least). Take care of your health by stretching once a day. You can reduce stress and improve your posture!

5
Volunteer in your community. Check out a site like Volunteer Match for various opportunities. Want to find ways to volunteer with the AGS? Learn more about the AGS Mentor Program or ask your Community Ambassador for ideas.
6
Avoid FOMO. Members who attend Conclave every year will tell you it is the must-attend event of the year! It’s the perfect place to learn something new, make impactful connections, build relationships, and create unforgettable memories. Conclave is more than a conference. It’s an experience!
7

Give your senses and your brain a treat. Visit a museum, see a play, listen to a different type of music than you are used to, or learn a new language. Learning a new skill at any age has a specific and definite impact on your brain!

8

Promote your membership. AGS has decals for your doors and windows. If a consumer then asks you, “What’s an AGS?” you can proudly tell them, “The American Gem Society is a community of jewelry professionals dedicated to protecting the jewelry-buying public, by ensuring that jewelers, like me, are up-to-date on our education and ethical business practices.” To request decals, contact your Community Ambassador, [email protected].

9
Share your accomplishments. Add your digital badge to your email signature, website, or social media! Digital badges are a great source for networking, can inspire learning, and signify community.
10

Stay connected. Have you downloaded AGS Go? Our mobile app is designed to help you quickly access the information you need relating to the AGS.
