The American Gem Society’s (AGS) International Board of Directors voted to approve the appointment of Sumit Dangi on Monday, October 17, 2022. Mr. Dangi, the Global Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Jewelers Mutual Group (JM) was appointed by Lisa Bridge, CG, President of the AGS Board.
“We are thrilled to welcome Sumit Dangi to the AGS Board,” said Ms. Bridge. “He brings tremendous insight both from growing up with his family in jewelry and his many years in banking, leadership, and consulting. Sumit will make a big impact on both the Board and our membership with his thoughtful and curious approach. I am thankful to have him join our dynamic Board.”
Mr. Dangi has a broad role at JM, serving as a strategic and growth-focused executive. He leads large teams across controllership, treasury, financial planning and analysis, actuarial services, tax, internal audit, and vendor management disciplines.
“I am deeply honored by this appointment and to serve with this very talented group of leaders,” Mr. Dangi said. “The American Gem Society has an energized community of dedicated members and a promising future with exciting opportunities. I look forward to working with AGS leadership on driving the strategic direction, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish.”
Mr. Dangi will be added to the 2023 Board slate for election in May 2023. He replaces Director-at-Large Jamie Luce, who resigned from his Board position in September as he has left the industry.
The American Gem Society will open nominations for the AGS Board of Directors in early 2023 and will issue an announcement at that time.
