Message from JA: European Union Delaying Certification Scheme to 2025

Recently, Jewelers of America sent out a Member Alert to their community that we wanted to share here.

In their email, they stated, “Jewelers of America and other industry leaders continue to push back on government plans to expand restrictions on diamond exports to curb revenues Russia receives from its diamonds. The European Union announced on Monday, June 24, 2024, that it would delay implementation of its certification scheme by 6 months, moving it from September 2024 to March 1, 2025. Additionally, they announced diamonds imported prior to the ban would not be restricted by the new rules, but that companies would need to show proof of when they were imported.”

Click here to view their full email message, which explains in more detail why this is important.

If you wish to support this effort, we encourage you to contact your local representatives in D.C. and voice your concerns about these restrictions.

If you are also a JA member, log in to your account and send the legislative action alert.
