For over half a century, Dorel Dolberg Co., Inc. has been crafting colored gemstone jewelry. The family-run business, founded by Dorel and Aurica Dolberg, traces its origins to a pivotal trip to Brazil, where they purchased loose topaz and aquamarine stones with an eye to sell these gems throughout the Midwest. From that humble beginning, Dorel, Aurica, and Allen—president of Dorel Dolberg–and his wife Kerry—lead designer—have traveled the world to select the finest quality precious and semi-precious stones with a finished piece in mind.
“As gem dealers and manufacturers, the business has grown steadily and geographically to cover the USA,” says Allen. “We created the Zoma Color brand about ten years ago to give us the ability to face the public (we do not sell retail) and market our pieces on social media and other platforms.”
At the heart of Dorel Dolberg’s business lies its unique ability to blend tradition with modern design. “We take classic design concepts and add a modern twist,” notes Allen. Specializing in precision-cut and native-cut gemstones, the company offers calibrated stones from 1mm in most shapes. “We also manufacture 18K gold jewelry using hand-selected, unique stones and incorporate the unique faceting patterns of our gems into the design of our finished pieces.”
Spinels have exploded onto the market in the past 10 years, and rightfully so—spinels come in every color. Live life colorfully!
This isn’t your grandmother’s Malaya garnet. The dark, orangey-brown tones have been replaced by brighter and softer hues that complement many skin colors.
This is what we are about—taking traditional designs and adding a modern twist. Shield cuts have gained in popularity in the past few years.
Can you feel the heat coming from this image? Hexagons are super-hot right now as well as rainbow designs.
One of Dorel Dolberg’s/Zoma Color’s defining characteristics is their hands-on, personal service, working one-on-one with each retailer and as a team. Allen explains, “We design around each stone to create one-of-a-kind pieces that we do not repeat, giving retailers the ability to truly say that the piece is the only one. We deliver everything so you see the color and quality firsthand. No surprises weeks or months later.”
When Allen and Kerry thought about professional organizations to join, they wanted to align themselves with like-minded individuals who care about the integrity of the industry. Allen remarks, “It was a logical choice to become a part of AGS, and we are proud to call many members both professional and personal friends.”

Teal sapphires from both Madagascar and Montana have been the best sellers for the past few years. The hexagon shapes have been very popular as well.
We favor the darker color zircon from Cambodia in our work. We also love hexagons and have been working with them for years.
Beyond the world of gemstones, Allen is passionate about family, golf, and dogs. “Number one is family,” he says, adding that spending a few hours on the golf course brings him joy. Anyone who knows him knows he’s a golf nut. His love for dogs is evident, too—his family’s dog, Oliver, doubles as an “officemate,” and the Dolbergs support Tailwaggers 911, a local dog adoption group. “We would own 20 dogs if we could,” Allen jokes.
